Its origins date back to the 11th century, when there was an earlier church dedicated to San Nicol\u00f2, of which, however, no trace remains today. In 1500, the building was granted the title of collegiate church, a sign of its growing importance within the community.<\/p>\n<p>As the centuries passed and the population grew, the original structure was no longer sufficient to accommodate the faithful, making the construction of a new church necessary. The current building dates back to the 19th century and retains the layout that still characterises the Collegiate Church of San Nicol\u00f2 di Bari today.<\/p>\n<p>The interior consists of a central nave flanked by six side altars, creating a spacious and harmonious space. The space is dominated by a large canvas situated at the centre of the nave, painted in 1846, depicting the Madonna and Child with Saint Nicholas receiving the pallium.
