The garden of the Casino di Sabbioneta, called in the documents “Giardino de la Fontana” was built in the mid-eighties of the sixteenth century on a probable design by Bernardino Campi.
\nThe place of the otium and the delights of Vespasiano Gonzaga Colonna, in which the noble Sabbionetan welcomed illustrious guests to spend time with them, has been recovered.Its construction was the subject of a three-year research and analysis process, promoted by the Unesco Mantova and Sabbioneta Office.
\nThe iconographic sources, integrated with literary sources and modern investigation techniques have allowed a redesign of the green garden plant, according to the typological patterns of the Italian garden, with a fountain in the center.
\nThe water jets of the fountain, in fact, constituted the element of greatest attraction of the garden behind the Casino, so as to give it the name.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
