Among the most important works is the famous polyptych by Vittore Crivelli, characterised by an extraordinary richness of colour, with enamelled hues enhanced by the gold of the backgrounds. The figures of the saints, arranged in two tiers on either side of the throne of the Virgin and Child, create a harmonious and intense composition, capable of conveying a strong expressiveness, accentuated by the faces with their delicately melancholic tones.

The polyptych, stolen in 1972, was subsequently recovered and restored, although three panels of the predella are still missing. The original carved and gilded wooden frame has, however, been preserved, maintaining the work’s visual unity and compositional balance.

The polyptych by Jacobello di Bonomo, stolen in 1921, has not been recovered; it represented a valuable testimony to the artistic ties between Venice and the Fermano region. The presence of these works confirms the church’s role as an important centre for cultural and artistic dissemination over the centuries.

Discover the Church of Sant’Agostino in Torre di Palme, a treasure trove of art featuring a polyptych by Vittore Crivelli and examples of painting from the Gothic and Renaissance periods.

[51144
76175,76172
30159
post-310303","what-to-see","type-what-to-see","status-publish","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","village-conntection-torre-di-palme-it","what-to-see-region-and-provinces-fermo-en","what-to-see-region-and-provinces-marche-en","what-to-see-category-place-of-cult
["GET
