The exterior retains its Romanesque style, interpreted in the Franciscan manner, i.e. in a simple and austere style. On the gabled façade, there is a votive statue (1301) depicting St. Anthony of Padua.

The interior of the church, which houses paintings by Giovanni Andrea Bertanza and Andrea Celesti, was originally divided into three naves, which were later demolished to reduce it to a single nave, probably between the 17th and 18th centuries. On the right side of the building stands the cloister of the ancient Franciscan convent. Built in the first half of the 14th century, it is a small square courtyard surrounded by a portico with Venetian-style arches resting on the capitals of cylindrical columns.

The cloister also houses two ancient Roman artefacts found in Gargnano: a plaque (discovered in 1837) dedicated to Neptune and a small altar honouring Revino, a local deity. Also in the cloister, you can see the surprising 15th-century marble coat of arms of the Municipality of Gargnano, identified by the initials C.G.: Communitatis Gargnani.

The coat of arms depicts a rampant wolf holding a lily between its paws, surmounted by an inverted crown. In 1879, the convent became the property of the Società Lago di Garda, which converted it into a citrus fruit warehouse. It was not until 1912 that the Italian government recognised the church as a national monument.

[50707
76161,76159
30159
post-310173","what-to-see","type-what-to-see","status-publish","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","village-conntection-gargnano-it","what-to-see-region-and-provinces-brescia-en","what-to-see-region-and-provinces-lombardia-en","what-to-see-category-place-of-cult
["GET
