site in the south-east of the Bishop’s Castle, one time residence of the archbishops of Taranto, The Museum occupies the environments formerly used as stables which, after adequate restoration works have become an exhibition space of great suggestion.<\/p>\n
The handicrafts figulino, for centuries driving sector of life and commerce of Grottaglie, is worthily represented by about 400 articles, covering a chronological arc very wide ranging from the VIII century B.C. up to our days.<\/p>\n
The objects that come from public and private collections, tell the story of a past in which the ceramic played a crucial role in the lives of men, satisfying their primary need of hygiene and conservation of food, but also their need to possess objects that assolvessero to a function purely ornamental purposes.<\/p>\n
At present the Museum is divided into five sections: Traditional Ceramics of use, archaeological, majolica, contemporary ceramics and Nativity Scenes.<\/p>\n
