{"id":308750,"date":"2024-08-09T21:02:02","date_gmt":"2024-08-09T19:02:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.e-borghi.com\/what-to-see\/badolato-the-church-of-the-immaculate-conception-2\/"},"modified":"2025-09-10T15:24:50","modified_gmt":"2025-09-10T13:24:50","slug":"badolato-the-church-of-the-immaculate-conception","status":"publish","type":"what-to-see","link":"https:\/\/www.e-borghi.com\/en\/what-to-see\/badolato-the-church-of-the-immaculate-conception\/","title":{"rendered":"Church of the Immaculate Conception"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Church of the Immaculate Conception stands on a hillock located 250 meters above sea level from which there is a magnificent panorama, so the view can sweep along the entire Gulf of Squillace, from Punta Le Castella to Punta Stilo on the Ionian coast of Calabria.<br \/>\nBegun in 1686, it features a granite portal attributed to stonemasons from Serra San Bruno.<br \/>\nInside, decorative and stylistic elements of great artistic value stand out, among them the high altar made of white marble with polychrome decorations and the majolica floor with daisy designs.<br \/>\nAnother valuable element are the silver pieces made by Neapolitan artists, including a chalice, a monstrance, and the finely crafted tip of the prior&#8217;s mace.
