Located in the heart of the historic centre, the museum illustrates the deep connection between Castelvetro and the 16th century through splendid historical costumes, rich in detail and featuring refined references to court life.

The exhibition owes its existence to the work of the Associazione Dama Vivente, which over the years has meticulously crafted the costumes used during the village’s famous historical re-enactments. The exhibition, sponsored by the Ministry of Culture, brings together precious Renaissance costumes, handcrafted from silks, velvets and satins, featuring gold embroidery, feathered hats and period hairstyles, faithfully recreating the atmosphere of the Rangoni court.

As you stroll through the museum’s galleries, you are transported back to the 16th century, into a refined and evocative setting that recalls the period when the young Torquato Tasso stayed at the Rangoni court in Castelvetro in 1564. The costumes on display, used during the town’s historical re-enactments, are true works of craftsmanship that showcase the Renaissance traditions of textile production and tailoring.

The museum is closely linked to the two major historical events organised annually by the Dama Vivente Association. In even-numbered years, the famous Dama Vivente takes place, a spectacular game of draughts played in the village’s chequered square with costumed participants. In odd-numbered years, however, Castelvetro hosts the Festa a Castello, an evocative Renaissance re-enactment featuring historical processions, banquets, music, dancing and games inspired by the traditions of the era.

Visiting the Fili d’Oro Museum at the Palazzo therefore means embarking on a journey through the Modenese Renaissance, amidst history, sartorial art and folk traditions that still today bring to life one of the most beautiful villages in Emilia-Romagna.

Discover the Fili d’Oro a Palazzo Museum in Castelvetro in Modena, a fascinating exhibition of Renaissance costumes linked to the historic re-enactments of the Dama Vivente.

[50552
76133,76137
28444
post-308476","what-to-see","type-what-to-see","status-publish","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","village-conntection-castelvetro-di-modena-it","what-to-see-region-and-provinces-emilia-romagna-en","what-to-see-region-and-provinces-modena-en","what-to-see-category-museum
["GET
