Its current appearance dates back to 1883, when it was rebuilt following major renovation works.

The interior features a three-nave basilica layout, the result of a series of alterations and renovations carried out over time, particularly during the 19th century. The naves are adorned with niches containing statues of saints, including Saint Leonard and Saint Anthony, whilst the two main chapels are dedicated to Our Lady of the Ears of Corn and Our Lady of Sorrows. The latter houses the relics of Saint Prospero the Martyr, patron saint of the village, donated in 1866.

The dome preceding the apse is particularly striking, decorated with figures of the Four Evangelists painted by Leonardo Scarinzi. Near the high altar, one can admire the statues of the Most Holy Saviour, Our Lady of the Ear of Corn and Saint Prospero himself.

The church also houses a precious collection of sacred vestments, bearing witness to the liturgical richness and devotion of the community over the centuries. The complex is completed by a bell tower built in the mid-19th century and various architectural elements reused from older buildings in the village.

Over time, the building has endured difficult periods, including collapses, reconstructions and restorations, until the consolidation works of 1983 ensured its stability.

Today, the Mother Church of the Santissimo Salvatore represents the spiritual heart of Faeto, a place where history, faith and local identity intertwine, recounting the story of a community that is unique also for its linguistic and cultural traditions.

Discover the Mother Church of the Santissimo Salvatore in Faeto, a Renaissance building with three naves, featuring works of art and a history linked to the Counter-Reformation.

[50661
76111,76115
30159
post-308380","what-to-see","type-what-to-see","status-publish","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","village-conntection-faeto-it","what-to-see-region-and-provinces-apulia","what-to-see-region-and-provinces-foggia-en","what-to-see-category-place-of-cult
["GET
