The Rio Val valley, also known as Val d’Osta, divides the village into two parts: Villa, which is the main and highest settlement (1,120 m), and Rad\u00f2e, where the church is located (1,086 m). The village is situated on an ancient\u00a0fortified village of the Bronze Age. The center is characterized by the so-called \"Cortazze\" or \"courtyards\", a series of passages and streets often situated on the line of the maximum slope to facilitate waters streaming. Walking you can admire paintings and frescoes, the beautiful monolithic fountain of 1888 and the shrine is dedicated to the Virgin. The church of Carano, dedicated to St Nicholas of Bari, dates back to 1150.<\/p>\n
