The village of Galtell\u00e0\u00ac is situated on a panoramic position, along the valley of the Cedrino River and at the foot of the majestic Tuttavista Mount that protects it from the top and separates it from the crystalline waters of the Golfo di Orosei.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Galtell\u00e0\u00ac is one of the best preserved villages in all of Sardinia and stands along the valley of the Cedrino river and at the foot of the majestic Monte Tuttevista<\/p>\n","protected":false},"featured_media":312239,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"the-village":"<p>Already populated in prehistoric times, as we can see from the remains of the domus de janas of Malicas dated 3800 B.C. and some nuraghe and dolmens in the land surrounding the hamlet, Galtell\u00ec went down in\u00a0history for the chronicles of medieval age related to the establishment of the Episcopal <strong>Diocese of Saint Peter<\/strong> in the Giudicato of\u00a0Gallura from 1138 to 1495; subsequently it passed under the Aragonese dominion\u00a0between the XV and XVIII century, influence which is present in the architecture of the parish church of SS Crucifisso and in the heritage of wooden statues, and under Piedmontese control between the XVIII and XIX century, as testified by the Malicas Castle, hunting fort of Baron Guzzetti and the last Baroque reform of the parish church.<\/p>\n<p>The territory has a rich environmental heritage and wildlife that begins from the banks of the Cedrino River to the limestone range\u00a0of Tuttavista Mount populated by holm oaks, mastics, centenarian junipers trees and rare endemisms, where you will find the natural monument of Sa Preta Istampata (the perforated stone) at 635 meters a.s.l.<br \/>\nThe historic center of the hamlet of Galtell\u00ec is one of the best preserved in Sardinia. Simple portals or decorated, saddleback roofs and poor yet charming dwellings overlook the steep\u00a0and quiet streets.<\/p>\n<p>The traditional rural architecture brightens up\u00a0in the colors, flavors and scents that mutate as the\u00a0seasons change like\u00a0in the manor house of 1700 <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.e-borghi.com\/en\/what-to-see\/ethnographic-museum-sa-domo-e-sos-marras\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Sa Domo 'e sos Marras<\/a><\/strong>, typical galtellinese house, today the site\u00a0of the ethnographic museum which houses over 1800 pieces and tells the peasant life of the time. Its history, landscape, characters and states of mind\u00a0remained impressed by the pen of the writer <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.e-borghi.com\/en\/what-to-see\/grazia-deledda-literary-park\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Grazia Deledda<\/a><\/strong> from Nuoro who in Galtell\u00ec set her most famous novel <em>Reeds in the wind<\/em>.
