These places, charged with faith, history and mystery, offer an intense experience that blends nature, spirituality and folk legends. In addition to natural beauty and deep religious suggestions, the town of Gaeta completes the visit with its artistic heritage, golden beaches, and the authenticity of the historic center.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h2>The village of Gaeta: between sea, history and traditions<\/h2>\n<h3>A bridge between Lazio and Campania<\/h3>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.e-borghi.com\/en\/village\/gaeta-medievale\/\"><strong>Gaeta<\/strong><\/a> is a coastal pearl nestled between Rome and Naples, overlooking the Gulf that takes its name. According to tradition, they opened at the moment of Christ&#8217;s death, as recounted in Matthew&#8217;s Gospel: <em>&#8220;Jesus rendered the spirit, and the earth trembled, and the rocks split&#8221;<\/em> (Mt 27:50-51). An epigraph carved into the rock inside the cleft reminds pilgrims who have been coming there for centuries.<\/p>\n<h3>The Legend of the Turk&#8217;s Hand<\/h3>\n<p>Along the staircase in the main rift is the imprint of the <em><strong>&#8220;Turk&#8217;s Hand&#8221;<\/strong><\/em>, left &#8211; according to legend &#8211; by a skeptical sailor who, upon touching the rock, saw the stone liquefy, leaving the shape of his hand imprinted. Among the most illustrious visitors: St. Philip Neri, St. Alphonsus Maria de&#8217; Liguori, Ignatius of Loyola, and even Pius IX.<\/p>\n<p>Along the rocky corridor leading to the <strong>chapel is a majolica Stations of the Cross<\/strong>, consisting of 14 stations dating from 1849, with verses attributed to the poet Metastasio. The effect of the sun&#8217;s rays penetrating the cave creates striking emerald and turquoise reflections, an enchantment that has also won over free climbers and photographers.<\/p>\n<p>The name &#8220;<strong>Cave of the Turk<\/strong>&#8221; comes from the Saracen raids of the 9th century, when pirates found refuge in these crevices of the headland. Legend and reality are intertwined, giving the cave an aura of mystery and adventure.
