And this reason is not just landscape. Sinuously placed on the slopes of a characteristic promontory (<strong>Punta Spartivento<\/strong>) which divides the Como branch from the Lecco branch, Bellagio in the past hosted those that are nowadays called &#8220;vip&#8221;. <strong>Great names in history<\/strong>, in fact, have had the pleasure of staying in this enchanting lake village, which is somewhat the symbol of the <strong>Lario<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.e-borghi.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/09\/bellagio-1.jpg\" alt=\"Bellagio\" width=\"1200\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><small>Nei vicoli di Bellagio<\/small><\/p>\n<p>Its narrow alleys and its dizzying staircases are real movie sets, so much so as to have given inspiration to directors of the caliber of <strong>Luchino Visconti<\/strong> and <strong>Sergio Leone<\/strong>, who in the centre of Bellagio shot\u00a0respectively\u00a0the famous films <em><strong>Rocco and his brothers<\/strong> <\/em>and\u00a0<em><strong>Once upon a time in America<\/strong><\/em>. The splendid and majestic <strong>Villa Serbelloni<\/strong>, on the other hand, has hosted very important characters who stand out on the pages of school subsidiaries, from <strong>Emperor Maximilian I<\/strong> to <strong>Leonardo da Vinci<\/strong>, passing through <strong>Ludovico il Moro<\/strong>, <strong>Bianco Sforza<\/strong> and <strong>Cardinal Borromeo<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.e-borghi.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/09\/bellagio-2.jpg\" alt=\"Bellagio - I Giardini di Villa Melzi\" width=\"1200\" height=\"800\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><small>Gardens of Villa Melzi<\/small><\/p>\n<p>In the nineteenth century, while they were strolling along the lakefront, they took inspiration for their written works <strong>Silvio Pellico<\/strong> and <strong>Alessandro Manzoni<\/strong>, who set several chapters of <em><strong>I Promessi Sposi<\/strong><\/em> in Lake Como. And even <strong>Queen Victoria<\/strong> gave herself a holiday in Bellagio. <strong>Villa Melzi d&#8217;Eril<\/strong>, another palace of incredible architectural charm, jealously guards some paintings by <strong>Andrea Appiani<\/strong> and sculptures by <strong>Antonio Canova<\/strong>. While the Hungarian composer <strong>Franz Liszt<\/strong> and the<strong> Frenchman Stendhal<\/strong> relaxed outdoors in the manicured english style\u00a0gardens of Villa Melzi, a sort of botanical eden.
