{"id":388104,"date":"2026-07-13T15:04:16","date_gmt":"2026-07-13T13:04:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.e-borghi.com\/en\/events\/\/"},"modified":"2026-07-13T15:11:33","modified_gmt":"2026-07-13T13:11:33","slug":"fuga-del-bove","status":"publish","type":"eb_event","link":"https:\/\/www.e-borghi.com\/events\/fuga-del-bove\/","title":{"rendered":"Fuga del Bove"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>From 30 July to 19 August 2026, the village of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.e-borghi.com\/en\/village\/montefalco\/\"><strong>Montefalco<\/strong><\/a> \u2013 famous for its Sagrantino wine and known as the \u2018Balcony of Umbria\u2019 \u2013 will once again host one of the region\u2019s most cherished historical events: the <strong>Fuga del Bove<\/strong>. The event involves the town\u2019s four historic districts \u2013 San Bartolomeo, San Fortunato, San Francesco and Sant\u2019Agostino \u2013 which compete against one another in races, processions and contests, reviving the town\u2019s ancient traditions.<\/p>\n<p>The event kicks off on 30 July with the evocative Renaissance Banquet, a grand dinner that officially opens the festivities, transporting the historic centre back to the atmosphere of the Renaissance. From this moment onwards, Montefalco comes alive with a packed programme of events, culminating on 19 August in the spectacular Corsa dei Bovi, the festival\u2019s signature competition.<\/p>\n<p>From 11 August, the programme really gets into full swing with the Historical Procession, performances by flag-wavers and drummers, shows organised by the neighbourhoods, the relay race, crossbow shooting and numerous contests that fuel the rivalry between the four districts.
