The theme <strong>\u201cRoots, Identities, New Fusions\u201d<\/strong> serves as the central thread of the event, bringing together cinema, art, music and contemporary creativity in a journey that looks simultaneously to tradition and the future.<\/p>\n<p>Marzamemi provides the ideal setting for this event. The ancient fishing village, with its historic tuna fishery, the picturesque Piazza Regina Margherita and the characteristic stone houses overlooking the sea, has long been one of Sicily\u2019s most fascinating film locations. Highly successful films and productions have been shot here, such as <strong>L\u2019Avventura<\/strong> by Michelangelo Antonioni, <strong>*Sud*<\/strong> by Gabriele Salvatores, <strong>*L\u2019Uomo delle Stelle*<\/strong> by Giuseppe Tornatore, <strong>*Kaos*<\/strong> by the Taviani brothers, <strong>*Il Viaggio*<\/strong> by Vittorio De Sica, numerous episodes of <strong>*Commissario Montalbano*<\/strong>, right up to the more recent <strong>*Stranizza d\u2019Amuri*<\/strong> by Beppe Fiorello.<\/p>\n<p>During the festival\u2019s five days, the village comes alive with screenings, meetings with directors and film stars, debates, cultural events and activities dedicated to promoting the local area.
