{"id":386438,"date":"2026-06-30T15:16:35","date_gmt":"2026-06-30T13:16:35","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.e-borghi.com\/en\/events\/\/"},"modified":"2026-06-30T16:34:50","modified_gmt":"2026-06-30T14:34:50","slug":"historical-tournament-of-the-villages-of-susa","status":"publish","type":"eb_event","link":"https:\/\/www.e-borghi.com\/en\/events\/susa-it\/historical-tournament-of-the-villages-of-susa\/","title":{"rendered":"Historical Tournament of the Villages of Susa"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>From <strong>17 to 19 July 2026<\/strong>, the town of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.e-borghi.com\/en\/village\/susa\/\"><strong>Susa<\/strong>,<\/a> the gateway to the Susa Valley and ancient capital of the county of the same name, will once again be steeped in the atmosphere of the Middle Ages with the <strong>38th edition of the Historical Tournament of the Villages of Susa<\/strong>, one of the most important historical re-enactment events in Piedmont.<\/p>\n<p>For three days, the historic centre and the picturesque <strong>Roman Arena<\/strong> will become the stage for processions, performances, medieval contests and ceremonies, featuring the town\u2019s six historic districts as they compete to win the coveted <strong>Palio<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The event, organised by the <strong>Pro Loco di Susa APS<\/strong>, celebrates the town\u2019s history through period costumes, traditions and competitions involving the whole community, offering visitors an immersive experience bridging the past and the present.<\/p>\n<p>The six town districts will be competing for the banner:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Borgo Nuovo, detentore del Palio;<\/li>\n<li>Borgo Storico;<\/li>\n<li>Borgo dei Franchi;<\/li>\n<li>Borgo dei Nobili;<\/li>\n<li>Borgo di Traduerivi;<\/li>\n<li>Borgo dei Cappuccini.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>The programme<\/h3>\n<p>The tournament will kick off <strong>on Friday 17 July<\/strong> at <strong>8.30 pm<\/strong> in <strong>Piazza San Giusto<\/strong>, with a performance by the Tamburini, whose rhythm will mark the official start of the event.<\/p>\n<p><strong>On Saturday 18 July<\/strong>, at <strong>8.30 pm<\/strong>, the traditional <strong>Historical Procession<\/strong> will wind its way through the streets of the town centre with hundreds of participants in medieval costume. At <strong>9.30 pm<\/strong>, in the Roman Arena, the medieval spectacle and the evocative <strong>Oath of the Borough Leaders<\/strong> will take place \u2013 a symbolic moment that officially opens the competition.<\/p>\n<p>The final day, <strong>Sunday 19 July<\/strong>, will begin at <strong>10.00<\/strong> with another historical procession, followed at <strong>11.00<\/strong> by <strong>Holy Mass<\/strong> and the <strong>Blessing of the Palio<\/strong> at the Cathedral of San Giusto.<\/p>\n<p>At 3.30 pm, the Roman Arena will host the most eagerly awaited moment of the entire event: the medieval games that will determine the winning village of the 2026 Palio.
