St. James Church

The Church of St. James in Arquata Scrivia is an architecture that holds centuries of history and artistic modifications. Founded in the 12th century with Romantic roots, the building has evolved over the years, bearing witness to the different stylistic currents that have followed. The simple-looking facade is enlivened by the ornate portal and rose window that frames the centrality of the entrance, inviting one to discover the interior.

Upon entering, one is greeted by beautifully crafted frescoes, significant works of sacred art, and the solemnity of octagonal pillars that stand as witnesses to the medieval period. The atmosphere is enriched with Baroque elements that are harmoniously grafted with 19th-century decorations, creating a visual dialogue between the various eras represented.

The Church of St. James represents a true journey through the centuries, in which the visitor can feel the historical and spiritual presence inherent in these ancient walls.
