About the village

Crodo, a small Piedmontese village known for the "Crodino", the famous drink born in this small town in 1964, is the main inhabited center of the Antigorio Valley. An important thermal town, the town is famous for its mineral waters.
In fact, according to history the beneficial properties of local waters were discovered at the time by the crusades, when a knight, returning from Jerusalem almost dying, stopped at Salecchio exhausted from the long journey. He quenched his thirst thanks to a spring he found by chance, miraculously receiving strength. Since then, citizens have used the elixir to alleviate any kind of disease.

One of the ancient testimonies of Crodo is the "Wall of the Devil", an imposing megalithic structure, which is presumed to serve sacred and social functions, in the shape of a gigantic wall that encircles on three sides a wide terracing oriented according to the cardinal points.
Other elements of greater value of the historical and architectural heritage of the village are the House Museum of the Mountain, open only in summer but open to visitors all year round by appointment, the Casa del Papa, the Romanesque parish of Santo Stefano, the oratory of San Giovanni Battista, the church of San Giacomo, the sanctuary of the Madonna della Vita and the Romanesque-Gothic parish church of San Giulio.

To complete the rich tourist offer of the village there are several inevitable appointments during the year. Among the most important there are the October tastings, dedicated to the most representative products of the region, such as chestnuts, undisputed protagonists of delicious dishes.
