Lands of the Po and Gonzaga, places rich in culture, landscapes immersed in nature, ancient villas and small courtyards to discover and excellent food and wine to taste. Eight municipalities, one river, the magic of a territory that will conquer you.

A land whose historical centers and countryside have inspired the works of illustrious figures, such as the solitary painter Antonio Ligabue, who spent most of his life in Gualtieri, or Giovannino Guareschi, father of the famous "Don Camillo and Peppone", protagonists of the homonymous saga set in Brescello. Not to be missed are Cesare Zavattini, the famous screenwriter born in Luzzara, and Bernardo Bertolucci, the director who chose these places as the film set of his "Novecento".

The Bassa Reggiana, a place whose history is inextricably intertwined with the great river that crosses it, with its unique and fascinating views, numerous ports - such as the one in Boretto - the floodplains, canals and cultivated fields. An ideal destination for lovers of outdoor walks and bike rides, where you can meet, immersed in the lush nature, many native animal species.

These are places where important families such as the Gonzagas have left traces of their passage, which can still be recognized in a priceless artistic and cultural heritage, as evidenced by numerous historic buildings, including the fortresses of Novellara and Reggiolo and the Ducal Palace of Guastalla. The history of these lands can also be recalled through several museums that collect artifacts dating back centuries: in Poviglio, for example, you can discover artifacts dating back to ancient settlements, related to the terramaricola civilization.

Not only history, culture and nature, Bassa Reggiana also means typical products. Take a break to taste erbazzone and gnocco fritto, accompanied by delicious cold cuts and a good glass of Lambrusco. Don't miss a taste of the famous Parmigiano Reggiano cheese served with traditional balsamic vinegar. To close, we recommend a good slice of sbrisolona, or on hot days a fresh slice of Anguria Reggiana IGP.

Travel through these places where it is still possible to dream, because, as Giovannino Guareschi teaches us...
