Lagoon Archeological Museum

What to see in Marano Lagunare, Udine, Friuli-Venezia Giulia

Share

This precious museum houses over five hundred artefacts found in various locations in the Marano Lagoon and the coastal area behind it.
The objects on display highlight in particular the important function of this area as an intermediary between the Adriatic and the hinterland, with its historical, cultural and economic implications.
A visit to the museum will give you the chance to retrace the most significant stages of human presence in Marano and the lagoon area from prehistoric and protohistoric times to Roman times, the Middle Ages and the Renaissance. You will also be able to admire a unique find: an iron sword returned from the sea, dating back around 1000 years.
