The Azienda Agricola Pisano Danila was founded in 1990 with the aim of recovering and renewing the old family crops: vineyard and olive grove. Danila, who has always been unfavorable to the chemistry on food, adopts the organic method in order to respect as much as possible the traditional methods. Since 1996 she has decided to obtain A.I.A.B. (later I.C.E.A.) certification because apart from direct sale to the consumer she also adds distribution to shops and restaurants. The company is family-run and according to a typical Ligurian feature it is divided into several plots. In fact, the certified organic oil and wine can be purchased for direct sale or in shops in the area. The wine is the Rossese di Dolceacqua, while the oil comes from olive groves entirely of Taggiasca cultivars. The Rossese di Dolceacqua is one of the most interesting wines of western Liguria and it takes its name from the village of Dolceaqua, that with the castle of Doria offers one of the most beautiful scenery of Liguria. The D.O.C. is well deserved both from the point of view of its long tradition, from the area of cultivation (slopes are favourably exposed) and from the authenticity of the vine (probably of French origin) introduced towards the end of 1200. The Rossese vine is grown in the shape of a tree, in accordance with the Mediterranean tradition, so that in summer the foliage of the plant shades the foot and therefore the root, protecting them from the sun's rays during the hottest hours. The olives are harvested by beating in November-December before complete maturation with the aim of obtaining a very fragrant and more preservable oil. The fruits are pressed as soon as they are picked at a continuous cycle mill with constant temperature control. Both are the result of the work of small family plots.
