Management Body of the Ossola Protected Areas

The Park of Alpe Veglia and Alpe Devero and the Natural Park of Alta Valle Antrona, in the Province of Verbano Cusio Ossola, are part of the system of protected areas of Regione Piemonte.
The Veglia Devero Park, extended on about 8,000 hectares in the municipalities of Baceno, Crodo, Varzo and Trasquera, includes some of the most beautiful and suggestive mountain pastures of the Western Alps, with dairy productions of value, not only local.
The Natural Park of Alta Valle Antrona, in the Municipalities of Antrona Schieranco and Borgomezzavalle, offers suggestive and unique sceneries of medium and high altitude; a territory enriched by the presence of numerous lakes, mountain pastures, and villages of strong cultural and architectural suggestion.

Both Parks are crossed by ancient communication routes with the neighboring Switzerland. Today, the Veglia Devero Park and the neighboring Binn Valley Landscape Park (Landschaftspark Binntal), share the status of cross-border protected area recognized by Europarc.
In summer and winter, the parks offer the opportunity for excursions, walks, climbing, ski mountaineering, snowshoeing ... a world of sports and outdoor activities surrounded by breathtaking scenery, whatever season you choose to visit, not to mention the beautiful foliage of the autumn season.

The strengths
Both parks are easily accessible and well connected to the nearby town of Domodossola, Switzerland and the international airport of Malpensa. They offer possibilities of visit and tourism to 360 degrees, from sports tourism to naturalistic, cultural, gastronomic, etc..
The receptive offer is wide and varied, with particular attention to the typical local products (cold cuts and cheeses of different origins and varieties), to the short chain productions and to the local wines produced on the low slopes of the Ossola Valley.
While the Parco dell'Alta Valle Antrona offers demanding excursions and important differences in height (rewarded by great satisfaction and high altitude panoramas), Alpe Veglia and Alpe Devero lend themselves to relaxing summer trips for everyone, from families to groups. In winter, Alpe Devero is a paradise for snow hiking, ski mountaineering and snowshoeing.
