Molara Agricultural Cooperative

Where to shop in Zungoli, Avellino, Campania

The Molara Agricultural Cooperative of Zungoli, located on the border between Campania and Puglia, markets milk and produces derivatives such as: caciomolara, carmasciano, goat's cheese, bagnolese sheep's cheese, monaciello and the famous caciocavallo podolico and irpino since 1972.
Heirs to a long tradition, they work to preserve, enhance and spread it.

The company's objective is strongly linked to the recognisability and quality of Molara brand products. At the beginning of the 1970s, the cooperative had only 15 members, a number that has increased over the years to the current 250.

A pool of employees visits the farms of its members every day, not only in Irpinia but also in the province of Foggia, to collect fresh milk. This milk is then used for the company's two leading products, caciocavallo podolico, which is matured in the caves in the village, and caciocavallo irpino.

The administrator is Genesio de Feo, who is very clear on how the cooperative is organised, its objectives and business strategies. The US market is the first important foreign buyer of the cooperative and the caciocavallo can be found on the tables of the most important Italian restaurants in New York.
