The history of Bel Sit Winery speaks of love and passion for wine and its territory. Andrea and Giampiero Scavino have been making wine since 1996, and the acquisition of the historic Bel Sit winery represents the crowning achievement of their dream: to offer a product of high quality and organoleptic level. The winery is nestled in a highly vocational wine-growing district that offers the prerequisites for highly distinctive Piedmontese wines. The estate is located in Castagnole delle Lanze, a charming village set between the Langhe and Monferrato regions.
The vineyards, located along generous hillsides, enjoy optimal southwest exposure so the vines manage to capture even the last ray of sunlight. The perfect ripening of the berries offers full-bodied, structured and intense wines that find their highest expression in Barbera d'Asti. The Piedmontese grape variety here finds ideal conditions for phenological and vegetative development.
Tradition and innovation are the pillars on which the work of the Bel Sit winery is based. Oenological principles passed down from generation to generation are integrated with the use of machinery that allows the grapes harvested in a rich and generous territory to be enhanced. Technology is indispensable to be able to preserve the organoleptic characteristics of freshly harvested grapes.
The Bel Sit winery has always been active in the field of experimentation and innovation to the point of being able to offer different versions of the same grape variety. The use of steel tanks, wooden barrels and painstaking aging work are at the basis of obtaining Barbera-based wines but with different potentialities between them.
This makes it possible to meet the different needs of customers. One example is the Barbera d'Asti DOCG La Turna, a fresh and ready-to-drink product suitable for the everyday table. While, one has to wait a bit longer, to taste the Barbera D'Asti Superiore DOCG Cunsej. In this case, the qualities of the grape variety are enhanced through a 9-month stay in barriques.
The Bel Sit winery's products, however, do not end there. A real oenological gem is enclosed in an old plot of land where old vines are raised, in Piedmontese called Sichivej, hence the name of the wine: Barbera d'Asti DOCG Sichivej.
