The Museo Ideale Leonardo Da Vinci, her vocation of yard of research, rediscovery philological and creativity, pursues inter alia three major objectives, namely to spread the knowledge of a Leonardo more true, brilliant and current beyond stereotypes, rhetoric and legend; investigate and submit the Leonardo "lost" and report the results of new studies and interpretations also directed to his "legacy" and his school (from Achademia Leonardi Vinci to followers designed by Leonardo Da Vinci); and finally, reread and connect his work with both the Renaissance context, both in contemporary culture. Has seat in the gallery that with the Ancient Wine Cellar of the castle hosted a forerunner "Wine Museum" already in the nineteenth century. The attest to the memories of Giuseppe Garibaldi of july-august 1868, in which it is defined "Museum Masetti", because it was part of the property of the counts of Masetti from bathe, together with the Rocca dei Conti Guidi (donated then to the Commune of Vinci) and to the land of Grappa (now affected by the "Garden of Leonardo" and in ancient property of the father of Leonardo). Just in front of the entrance to the museum there was the Mill of the town (with its gora of waters) that in 1478 was taken in Management from father Ser Piero and by his uncle Francesco di Leonardo. The Leonardo Da Vinci himself was present at the time, would have had to restructure the mill and it would have been beneficial owner. The part built in the Nineteenth century was built on the gora underground of the mill of the town and of the Da Vinci. Started in 1972 as a collection in progress of different materials, ancient and modern (Leonardo, ethno-anthropological assets of the territory of Vinci and of contemporary art in relation to Leonardo), aimed at creating collections of works of art, artifacts and documentary materials, including those otherwise destined to finish dispersed. The collection includes paintings original antique (tables) of the school of Leonardo, instruments of his time and of his native land (as the "Ritrecine of Leonardo"), rare engravings (including "nodes" 1506-8 of Durer on a drawing by Leonardo Da Vinci); working models to art from its projects; wonders of Leonardismo (by memorabilia vintage two autographs of Duchamp and thousands of works and finds in progress) until the "Dome of Arts and ideas" of Buckminster Fuller inspired by Leonardo.
