Church of San Michele Arcangelo

What to see in Quarto d'Altino, Venezia, Veneto

The Church of San Michele Arcangelo is the symbol of the village of Quarto d'Altino.
Completed between '800 and '900, the parish church has a clear neoclassical style and inside there is an organ of 1908 with 1180 pipes and the copy of the work of Guido Reni, depicting the defeat of the devil by the Archangel Michael, donated by Pope Pius X.
Particularly interesting is the circular bell tower located next to the church, 56 meters high, made by Benetton: this tower in Ravenna style is surmounted at the top by the steel statue of St. Michael the Archangel, the patron saint of the village. A spiral staircase allows all visitors to reach the belfry at the top, from which the view sweeps over Torcello, the many bell towers of the magnificent Venice and the Euganean Hills.
