Palazzo Pretorio

What to see in Casole d'Elsa, Siena, Tuscany

Share

The Palazzo Pretorio of Casole d'Elsa rises between the imposing fortress, built in 1363 by Francesco di Vannuccio, and the Collegiate Church of Santa Maria Assunta. The palace is recognizable by the presence of numerous coats of arms on the facade, datable for the most part between the fifteenth and seventeenth centuries and attributable to personalities who held public offices in the area.
This was once the seat of the Podestà, the Priors and the judiciary, of which today they can be found in the coats of arms.
