Parish Church of Santa Innocenza in Piana

What to see in Buonconvento, Siena, Tuscany

the Parish Church of Santa Innocenza in Piana of Buonconvento is documented since 1081, presents itself as a fortified body, with the typical characters of the military architecture of Siena of the XIII-XIV century; one of the sides is constituted by the Church. This, made of terracotta, as most of the complex, but with rows of stone in the simple facade, it has a single nave with a trussed ceiling in view, but suffers already gothic tips in quadrilateral chapel that concludes, covered with a barrel vault and with single lancet windows to acute arc. Inside are visible traces of a fourteenth-century fresco with San Cristoforo and another fresco, it too fragmented, where it remains the figure of Blessed Franco from Grotti.
