Church of San Leonardo

What to see in Masullas, Oristano, Sardinia

built in the first half of the XII century, is totally formed by blocks of tufa sandstone. Presents a plant with a single nave and a wide, with apse and has a facade to sloping, with a bell gable. During the restoration of 1977 came to light the path of the foundation of a pre-existing single naved sanctuary, on which was built the Romanesque church, respecting the longitudinal axis and the apse placed in direction north-east. The two main brochures are in sandstone ashlars and trachyte, sides in mixed stones. The facade is bipartite rincasso from a fake loggia, delimited by small arches a double ring and a shoe which is interrupted in correspondence of the two semi-columns.
