Yesterday has started the Crazy Rally Winter. Through the Italy of the villages riding a scooter

It has started yesterday from Oropa (Biella, Piedmont) the Crazy Winter Rally, the most deranged race of the year. A not competitive race for all scooter lovers is a true adventure on two wheels that will bring the thirty fearless odds to traverse Italy riding their roaring scooters from Biella to the village of Castel del Monte (Aquila, Abruzzo). A thousand kilometers in three days that will lead our heroes touching secondary roads and through many small villages of our country. The only rules envisage in fact to avoid highways, a free choice of route respecting only the point of departure and arrival and, obviously, to customise scooters with goliardic items.

Tackling the territory from below, by its apennine passes, crossing the small hidden treasures of our peninsula couldn't make us fall in love with these guys, who will face many challenges on their journey, not only the frost that they'll certainly find on the Crazy Winter Rally.

After four summer editions, from Biella to Pachino (Syracuse, Sicily), the Castagno brothers (who manage the event) have proposed to all participants this new exciting challenge that, unlike the summer version, provides 4 check point along the way, essential for the skyriders recognition, but not mandatory. The path begins at the foot of the Alps and winds along the Apennine ridge, to end on the slopes of the Gran Sasso. The whole trip will be completed in just 3 days (the arrival is provided on Sunday).

The glue of this version of the rally is the mountain. The 80% of the path will be held on mountain roads and will face countless climbs and descents with very low temperatures. The check points are mountain passages always open and kept clean even in winter. From North to South there will be: Cisa (1,041 AMSL), Pradarena (1.579 AMSL), Mandrioli (1.173 AMSL) and Cornello (818 amsl). In the case of adverse weather conditions, technical accidents, physical tiredness or for any other reason it will be possible to skip the check points and aim straight to the finish line.

It's possible to travel in groups or alone, although for obvious reasons the staff still recommends to tackle the race in group: in this way everything will be much more satisfying and amusing and also the difficulties will seem much smaller. Before the arrival at Castel del Monte, certainly the participants will post on their social netowrks various shots and photographs from which, behind those curves and those insidious mountains, we'll be able to see distinctly also the profiles of our beloved villages.
