Procession and Burning of the Bell Tower

📅 11 July 2026 – 12 July 2026

On 11 and 12 July 2026, Caorle will once again host one of its most cherished and evocative events: the traditional Procession and Burning of the Bell Tower, a celebration that blends faith, history and maritime heritage against one of the most captivating backdrops in the Northern Adriatic.

The event is one of the town’s most important religious traditions and attracts residents, pilgrims and visitors every year, all eager to witness a ceremony rich in meaning and of great emotional impact. At the heart of the celebrations lies devotion to Our Lady of the Angel, patron saint and spiritual symbol of the Caorle community, deeply linked to the town’s history and its relationship with the sea.

The celebrations will begin on Saturday 11 July with Holy Mass scheduled for 9.00 pm. Following the service, the solemn procession will commence, accompanying the statue of the Madonna dell’Angelo from the famous sanctuary overlooking the sea to Caorle Cathedral. A particularly evocative route that winds through the historic centre amidst prayers, hymns and the participation of the local community.

The highlight of the evening will be the Burning of the Bell Tower, scheduled for around 10.00 pm. The cathedral’s historic cylindrical bell tower, a symbol of the city, will be enveloped in spectacular lighting and pyrotechnic effects that will simulate the ancient fire without causing any damage to the structure. The lights and pyrotechnics will create a thrilling and spectacular display, sure to captivate thousands of spectators.

The event will continue on Sunday 12 July with the closing ceremony of the celebrations. Following the 9.00 pm Mass, the effigy of the Madonna dell’Angelo will return to the sanctuary that houses the venerated image, accompanied by the faithful and the traditional popular devotion that characterises this occasion.

The Procession and the Burning of the Bell Tower represent one of the most authentic expressions of Caorle’s religious culture, an event that every year succeeds in combining spirituality, tradition and spectacle in a unique setting of sea, history and architecture.

For those visiting Caorle in July, attending this celebration means experiencing first-hand one of the town’s most fascinating and defining traditions, which speaks to the deep bond between the local community and its beloved Madonna dell’Angelo.
