Pizza lovers from all over Italy, get ready! The city of Grottaglie becomes the scene of the Second Italian Contemporary Pizza Championship, an event that celebrates the creativity and mastery of pizza makers from every corner of the country and across national borders.
Under the auspices of the Professional Academy of Taste, chaired by renowned master pizza maker Domenico Rossini, the championship will be held March 5 and 6 at the hall of the Pizzeria Paradiso Restaurant. The competition will begin at 10 a.m., stretching the challenge of pizza art in a whirlwind carousel of doughs, toppings and culinary interpretations of one of Italy's gastronomic symbols par excellence.
Capable of turning heads as much as a pizza in the oven, the competing categories range from classic Neapolitan pizza to innovative gourmet recipes, involving contemporary variants and gluten-free solutions for pizza makers with more versatile and attentive flourishes.
A jury of excellence, composed of experts of international caliber, including jurors of world championships and champions in past editions, will be in charge of evaluating the competing creations.
The real surprise of this championship will be the introduction of skill competitions: from freestyle, a real acrobatic dance with pizza dough as a partner, to the challenge of the widest pizza, to the speed of rolling out three discs of dough. An opportunity to admire the technical skills of pizza makers beyond taste.
The Professional Academy of Taste, which has been active in the area for more than two years, is committed to weaving the network among professionals in the white art, promoting a wide and detailed range of training offerings ranging from courses for pizza instructors to training days in collaboration with producers of raw materials.
Among the most significant initiatives, Maestro Rossini highlights the training course for people with disabilities run in collaboration with the Epasss Foundation. This year, a group of children with disabilities will compete alongside professional pizza makers, demonstrating not only integration but also real talent.
Not just a simple competition, the Championship stands as an authentic moment of collective growth and comparison for the industry, as Rossini says, "It is not just a competition, but a moment of training and comparison, an opportunity to make people appreciate new flavors and enhance the professionals who work with passion every day."
The Championship promises to be an opportunity to celebrate pizza, craftsmanship and taste, as well as a stage for solidarity and inclusion.
