Setmana Santa

It is the most important religious event in Alghero, the Easter celebration of Spanish origins. It sees the participation of almost all of the population. A statue of Christ takes you through the procession and follows a precise calendar for every day. On Tuesday there is the Procession of the Mysteries of Sorrow, on Thursday the Via Crucis, on Friday the rite of the Christ's descendant of the cross and its deposition in the cradle, on Saturday the Day of Eve and on Easter Sunday the Resurrection. Other important events are the procession of Our Lady of Valverde, the sea-laying for the Holy Christ of the Coral Coast and the commemorations associated with St. Francis, Anna, Cecilia and Barbara.
