for its position on the itinerary that through the Monginevro linked the plain of the Rhone with that of the Po, since the Roman era with the Statio ad Martis was equipped center with public buildings adapted to provide the services for armies, merchants and travelers. Between the XI and XV century the history of Oulx and of the Alta Valle di Susa is then linked to Prevostura of San Lorenzo, a reference point for pilgrims and travellers, of which only a few traces remain in the area of the Abbadia, and Escarton d'Oulx, point of reference economic and political structure of the Alta Valle di Susa.

The town preserves a Borgovecchio characterized by a civil building of merit, the memory of a community rich and active, with the presence of aristocratic residences as house Bermond Or Des Ambrois. Significant religious presence is constituted by the parish church of Santa Maria Assunta (x sec) rebuilt the late nineteenth century, preserves prestigious eighteenth-century works of wooden notch from the retable of the high altar to the main portal.

The Borgovecchio is then dominated by the Tower Delfinale probably erected between 1350 and 1377, with a role more linked to the presence of officials regi on territory that real military purposes. The mountainous slopes of Oulx between walks mountain refuges and ancient alpine hamlets are embellished with small and important chapels as San Claudio to Gad, San Michele Beulard, San Bartolomeo Chateux Beaulard with the retable of Chaffrey Faure and a blade of the Dufour, without forgetting Savoulx at the church of San Gregorio Magno of fifteenth century but decorated with rich frescoes sixteenth-century polychrome.
